2010 Volunteer Training Day

Spring Docent and Volunteer Training  - Meet at the Park Museum
Saturday April 24, 2010
9:30 am -3:00 pm
This year, more than ever, volunteers and docents are needed to provide visitors and campers with an experience they will long remember. What can you do? You can help staff the museum store, become a blacksmith and dazzle kids with your smithy skills, lead hikes and bird walks or help with the Junior Ranger Program. Training is provided. Meet at the Plumas Eureka State Park Museum at 9:30 on April 24th to learn how you might help become a much-needed Park volunteer. Please let Lyn know you're coming as lunch is provided 530/836-1182. You'll enjoy a day of meeting great people, learning about the Park from experts and deciding what volunteer opportunity appeals to you (all in a beautiful and historic setting). Whether you have a few hours every week or time to spare once in a while - PESPA needs your help - this year more than ever!

2010 Gold Discovery Days

Join in the fun of Gold Discovery Days
Saturday July 17th and Sunday July 18th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM the park will come alive with food, fun and family entertainment.   Activities will include old-time children’s’ games,  horse –drawn wagon rides to the Johnsville Museum, gold panning, assay office tours,  blacksmithing, basketmaking with pine needles, candle making and much more.
Food will be available, including ‘Pioneer Pasties,’ a favorite of hungry gold miners. Tours of the historic Moriarty House, will include demonstrations of old-fashioned ice cream making (and eating!), butter churning (and tasting, on fresh baked bread!) and clothes washing, pioneer style. 
On Sunday, the always popular Pancake Breakfast will be served under the trees behind the museum from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  Local favorite, the Code Bluegrass Band will have everyone stomping their feet as their music fills the pristine morning mountain air.
