2008 Volunteer/Docent Activities
Once again it’s time to start planning for summer at “The Park”.  We’re anticipating a full schedule of activities with some new approaches to our interpretive programs and we look forward to welcoming back our fantastic docents and volunteers.

Our biggest event this year will be a “Gold Discovery Days” (formerly “Living History Days”).  We are excited to announce that the wonderful members of the Johnsville Historical Society will join us in offering an expanded program of activities.

Instead of three days scattered through the summer months (one day in each of June, July and August) we will be having one great weekend (Saturday & Sunday July 19th and 20th).  We’ll have old favorites like the blacksmith shop demonstrations, tours of the Moriarty House, Stamp Mill, Mine walks, gold panning and our famous Sunday morning Pancake Breakfast.  In addition there will be tours of Johnsville, the premiere open house of the Johnsville church museum, talented musicians, folk dancers, baked goods, cemetery tours, basket weaving, horse-drawn wagon rides, food and much more.
So start spreading the word and plan on coming early and staying late.  All activities are on July 19 & 20th from 9am -3pm both days, with breakfast on Sunday from 8-11am.

We are really counting on all of you to help make Gold Discovery Days a huge success. We need your help!  We encourage all interested persons to come up and join us in sharing the history of Plumas Eureka with visitors.  No special talent is needed- just a desire to interact with people and spread the word about our beautiful area.  Training and mentors are available to help you get started.

Returning docents/volunteers and all folks interested in helping out at our beautiful state park:

Please mark your calendars, the Annual Docent/Volunteer Meeting will be on Saturday April 26th at 10am at the Park.

Our major focus will be the Gold Discovery Days weekend.  Come prepared to sign up for the activity/time you want to volunteer.  We need “all hands on deck”.  Also be sure to be a recruiter and bring anyone interested in getting involved.  PESP will provide a picnic lunch for all.

See you on April 26th!
