Monday June 30th - Sunday July 6th
EVERY DAY: Visit the museum where a made to scale working model of the stamp mill is on display, along with many other interesting items showing the history of gold mining and the natural history of the park.
BLACKSMITH: Monday thru Saturday, 9:30 am - 2 pm. Come and enjoy the craftsman ship of our real blacksmith. See how the iron tools for mining and every day life were created and used more than 100 years ago.
Wildflower Walk with Pat Fites
10 am - 1 pm
Come and identify Plumas Eureka's most beautiful flora on the 1.8 mile hike to Grass Lake. Wear sturdy shoes, and bring water and lunch for this moderate hike. Meet at Campsite #54 Travel back in time as your tour this historic building that was home to a miner, his wife and eight children and get a taste of what life was like over a hundred years ago. Space is limited to 8 persons per tour, so be sure to sign up in the museum. Meet at the house. See Tuesday for details. Learn how to make your own quilt and start on a piece of your own to take home! For ages 8-12, must be able to handle a needle and thread. Sign up at the museum desk, meet at the picnic tables behind the museum. We'll search for creatures hidden under the rocks in Jamison Creek. Wear shoes that you can get wet. Meet in back of the museum. In 5,000 years the process of separating gold from it's parent rock has changed very little. Come learn about what the ancients knew so well and pick up some info about rocks and sample a tasty treat as well! Learn the natural history of birds while walking through one of the most gorgeous locations in the park. Jr. Rangers welcome. Meet at the Madora Lake turn-out on Johnsville Rd. Bring a snack/lunch, good walking shoes and some water. Learn about California's largest predator and what you need to know to be safe. Come make candles the way the miners did! Space is limited, so sign up at the museum desk. Meet behind the museum at the picnic tables. Come meet Flavious Josepheus Daniels, a mine worker from the 1800's who will talk about what it was like for a new emigrant working in the mines. Learn the secrets of coaxing those beautiful flakes out of the sand and into your pan! Bryan will help you perfect your technique. Meet at the gold panning trough in front of the Blackmith shop. Join us on this moderate morning hike to some of the park's most beautiful waterfalls! We'll keep our eyes open for wildlife and take note of some of the first wild flowers of the season. Be sure to bring some water and sun protection for this 2 mile walk. Meet at the entrance to the Lower Jamison Campground. Meet at the Museum Trailhead near Campsite #25. Come face to face with a Swamp Onion, a mountain orchid and a bevy of birds! Arrive just in time to have a quick cool off and take part in the next two events! Jr. Rangers welcome! Learn about the amazing relationships between the park and plants and animals. Meet at the campfire center near campsite #70. Wear sturdy walking shoes and bring water. 10 am and 11 am See Tuesday for details. Come and take part in a great Plumas County tradition! Wave and cheer as the Plumas-Eureka State Park float passes by! There will be festivities in Graeagle all weekend long, so see the flyer outside the museum for more information.

WHERE: Start at the Plumas-Eureka State Park and pick up your schedule of events for the Park and Johnsville.
WHY: Gold Discovery Days is the annual historic celebration of the of the Plumas Eureka State Park and surrounding town of Johnsville.
WHEN: All activities are on July 19 & 20th from 9am -3pm (both days) The pancake breakfast is on Sunday from 8-11am.
