Hiking Trails
There are many trails that abutt the Park on National Forest Service land. Backpacking permits (including fire permits) should be obtained from a U.S.D.A. Forest Service office. Trails that are located within the Park boundaries are:
Trails for everyone
The Museum Trail (Easy) - This trail is approximately 1.3 miles in length and is handicap accessible. Starting near the park entrance, it takes you for an easy, beautiful walk alongside the Upper Jamison Creek and ends up in the campground.
Eureka Tunnel (Easy) - This is a road that is accessible to foot traffic only. Length is approximately 3/4 mile and takes you to the Eureka Mine Tunnel entrance.
Madora Lake Loop (Easy) - Approximate mileage, 1.5 miles
Eureka Peak Loop (Moderate/Difficult) - From the Ski Hill parking lot, 1.3 miles of uphill to Eureka Lake. Then an additional 3 miles for the loop itself. Magnificent views await you. Be sure to take adequate water and sun protection.
Jamison Mine to Grass Lake (Moderate) - Hike from the campground or from the Jamison Mine trailhead. Approximately 1.8 miles with short, steep slope in the beginning. This trail is one of the gateways to the Lakes Basin Recreation Area.
